TPI reflection

It is surprising to see the difference between my strong "Nurturing" beliefs and intentions and the higher "Actions" score in the "Transmission" perspective. This could mean that I am leaning toward more traditional teaching methods. My Beliefs score in the Transmission section is low and this surprises me. I see myself as a content-based teacher because I believe that the content of every subject is important and fundamental for building future deeper study.

I am wondering that how might the scores change as I gain more experience during my teaching career? And how would I balance transmission and nurturing perspectives in my teaching approach? The TPI test lets me know which perspective I need to balance or pay more attention to in my teaching career.

  1. Hi Sally, thank you for your reflection on on the difference between your strong "Nurturing" beliefs and intentions and the higher "Actions" score in the "Transmission" perspective. Your belief in the importance of subject content as fundamental for future deeper study aligns with the Transmission perspective. This contrast between your beliefs and intentions reveals an interesting aspect of your teaching philosophy and can be a valuable point for self-reflection and growth in your teaching practice!
